as i understand the requirements for marrying a chinese lady in china are: 1 a single status certificate. i think us embassy in shanghai can issue such certificate for $30 2 a death certificate/divorce certificate and a translation does this certificate need to be authenticated by chinese embassy in usa? can somebody confirm or negate it? 3 a translation of above cerificate by a burrow office in china can anybody confirm

The rules about marriage eligibility as far as i know from my research in Australia require that you provide a "Single Certificate"...obtainable from your loical register of Births and Deaths and marriage. Then you must get this certificate authenticated by your Foreign Affairs department to prove it is Genuine. Then you must get this authenticated and translated by a local Chinese Consulate/Embassy.

This document then becomes the only one needed for a marriage in China.

I have done all this myself and to my knowlege it meets the requirements of any Chinese wedding process

Cheers...David

Hi! I'm in Nanning right now and am getting married next week. I had both my visa and divorce papers taken care of in the states by VisaRite services. Go to visarite.com. They are the most professional and helpful service I have found. Everything was done exactly on time as promised and they handled all my questions quickly and thoroughly. I just had the papers translated into Chinese, here in Nanning for around $40.00. Everyone in China is very friendly and helpful.

Craig, you evidently didn't read Jeffs' comments about 4 names ahead of yours, Visa.com will do it all.

Well Guys from what I learn about the K-1 Visa, 1st don't get married in China before you bring her to the USA.it will hold things up or they could turn her Visa down.So follow the rules. You need to prove you met her,Best bet is a photo of you two.You will need help with the Visa. These folks have people in China to help her & you.call 877-354-7463 or www.fiancee-visa.net/countries-china.htm . Tell them I sent you. This company will make sure everything for you goes well.I wish everyone the best of luck.

I need some solid advise guys, planning a trip to Chung Chun, northeast of Beijing this coming June or July. I plan to register for a marriage certificate and apply for a fiance visa while I am there. The wedding will be held with her family after the Fiance visa is issued 6 to 10 months down the road. Is this a good plan or is there a better way? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Northern Chinese women Rocks. :)

K-1 Visas are Worthless, unless you pay an immigration attorney:

I was engaged to be married to a lady from Russia, for more than 1.5 years before my fiancee "gave up the ghost" and moved on with her life. I personally applied for a K-1 Fiance Visa on her behalf, completing the needed documents myself. I used an internet based "FIANCE VISA PACKAGE" that I paid $85 bucks for, which included all of the necesary forms and advice from professional immigration attorneys. I never received a decision for my Fiance Visa Appliocation (I-129). All the USCIS ever told me was, "Your case is under review. You should receive a decision or notice of other action within 60 days of the date of this letter."

After hundreds of phone calls to the USCIS center in D.C., I gave up. The immigration attorneys all wanted about $2,000 to do the same K-1 Fiance Visa work that I did myself.

Now, I am serious about a wonderful girl from China. If things go well, I will fly to China and marry her there - then bring her back as my wife. I will pay an immigration attorney this time, but I still don't think much of the K-1 baloney. To me, a woman is more serious if she will marry you..............
